The stunning city of Bath has not one but two UNESCO World Heritage inscriptions, and makes for a memorable team event. Unwind in one of the city’s award-winning spas, such as the Spa Village at The Gainsborough Bath Spa, the only hotel and spa to have direct access to Bath’s natural thermal waters, or take tea in The Pump Room, where Jane Austen herself often dined.
Bath is surrounded on all sides by beautiful countryside, and the South Cotswolds in particular contain some of the most picturesque villages in the country, including Lacock, Castle Combe and Bourton-on-the-Water, which you can explore with a private guide or chauffeured tour.
Live like a character straight out of Bridgerton for a couple of days staying at one of the region’s grand country houses or a historic castle. Lucknam Park not only has two restaurants and an award-winning spa on site, but also has its own equestrian centre and acres of grounds for your group to explore. There’s also the option to stay overnight in one of their grand rooms or cottages.
Explore the extensive gardens at historic properties such as Badminton Estate and Homewood, or combine a nature-filled day out with an activity at Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, which has its own PGA Golf Course and offers lessons. Or why not spend the day at a castle? Berkeley Castle has an extensive history dating back to 1152, while nearby Thornbury Castle was where Henry VIII once stayed with Anne Boleyn – you can even stay in the same room, or enjoy a decadent afternoon tea in the lounge. The Newt in Somerset has orchards, lakes and forest within its grounds, and you can sample produce made on the estate, from vegetables to cider.
Brimming with creativity and culture, Bristol has plenty of recognisable icons: it’s the hometown of famous street artist Banksy, who has created artworks across the city, which you can visit on street art tours, or recreate in graffiti workshops.
It’s also the place where the great engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed and built two of the most brilliant creations of the Victorian period: SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge, both of which can be visited on private tours. Or you could enjoy dinner under the wings of a more modern marvel: Concorde at Aerospace Bristol.
Bath and Bristol both have fantastic food scenes, with Bristol flying the flag for independent restaurants, breweries and speakeasies, while Bath offers a mix of celebrated fine dining, traditional tea rooms and opulent bars for you to choose from.
Get a taste of the region on a food tour, whether it’s a gourmet tour with Food Tours of Bristol, a wander around the cafes and delis of Bath with Savouring Bath, or exploring a local farm, vineyard or cider orchard.
Thatchers Cider can offer a private tour of their orchards, followed by a guided tasting, while Yeo Valley can give your group a tour of the organic farm and gardens, followed by lunch in their canteen, or a food-themed workshop. Spend the day with one of our local winemakers at Aldwick Estate.
Cookery classes are also a popular choice, with options ranging from bread masterclasses at Bertinet Kitchen, to pasta making at Pasta Laboratory, or a range of themed classes at The Cookery Studio in Bath or Cooking It! in Bristol.
