We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Additional software might be needed to view Adobe Documents Adobe Acrobat Reader – this allows users to view Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files.
Adobe® Reader® X is free software that improves the accessibility of PDF files. Where possible the team have tried to avoid using PDF or external files.
This site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) so that you may customise the presentation to suit your preferences.
All the information can be viewed without styles (also known as CSS or Cascading Style Sheets). How you remove or disable the styles will depend on the browser you are using. Refer to a user guide for how to disable CSS using an add on. The screen text size is relative, allowing you to adjust the size of the text in your browser.
All pages contain a Site Map in the footer.
Please be aware that some product links may open in a new window. Visit West makes every effort to ensure that we only link to reputable websites, however no liability is accepted for the content and information contained on linked websites, or reliance upon information contained on them.
We are trying to continually improve our website to make it inclusive for everyone. If you encounter any accessibility difficulties, please do report to us at web@visitwest.co.uk.
We know some parts of this website aren’t fully accessible:
most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
some videos do not have captions or audio description
embedded YouTube videos aren’t fully accessible to screen reader software
alternative text is not always applied consistently throughout the site
Many of our older PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be structured so they’re accessible to a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2.
Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with maps and brochures provided by Partner organisations. We're aware of these accessibility issues and are working to fix them.
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
New PDFs or Word documents will meet accessibility standards, unless we determine that they represent a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. For example, publications created for print and published on the website. We’ve assessed our resources and the cost of fixing issues with the above publications and we believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. These documents typically may not meet the following WCAG 2.1 success criteria: 1.1.1 non-text content 1.3.1 information and relationships 1.3.2 meaningful sequence 2.1.1 keyboard 1.4.3 contrast (minimum) 1.4.5 images of text 1.4.10 reflow 1.4.12 text spacing.
Visit West is making efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of its sites and services in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible and unhindered use also for those of us with disabilities. In an ongoing effort to continually improve and remediate accessibility issues, we will be regularly scanning visitwestconventionbureau.co.uk with an online Accessibility Scanner to identify and fix every possible accessibility barrier on our site. Despite our efforts to make all pages and content on visitwestconventionbureau.co.uk fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.
