3 min readThe Grand Pier is a Grade II listed building 400 metres out to sea. They are much more than just a popular attraction in the South West – they also have a dedicated events department that specialises in curating memorable events and experiences, from birthday parties, to company conferences and concerts up to 2,000 people – no matter the size or occasion, the Grand Pier prides itself in putting on events that everyone will live long in the memory of everyone who attends.
The Event: Theo Paphitis Retail Group Company Conference
In October 2025, The Grand Pier hosted the Theo Paphitis Retail Group Company Conference. Th event consisted of 3 company conferences during the day in 3 separate event spaces and then all come together in the evening for a 3 course banquet dinner and party.

Who attended the event?
All the general Managers and Deputies from all their stores across their brands from all round the country. There was a total of 450 people in attendance.
Why Bristol?
Mainly for a unique experience to previous conferences but also due to cost. The Grand Pier managed to make significant savings for them against other venues.

Which venues were used?
Main Venue: The Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare.
Seven hotels around the local area to house all the attendees for the conference, a service The Grand Pier managed on TPRG's behalf. The hotels were: Cadbury House Hotel, South Sands Hotel, The Royal Hotel, The Premier Inn, The Travelodge, The York Hotel.

What were the event highlights?
The event was a huge success and being able to showcase what little old Weston-Super-Mare can do was a real privilege. The group enjoyed their visit to the seaside so much that they have rebooked for October 2026.
